Courtenay, for those
not familiar with the area, is a quiet town far removed from the
hustle and bustle of big city life. Theme parks and traffic jams?
Not here! We're a small community that values the natural beauty you
can only find in coastal BC. For those looking for a little R&R,
we're happy to point out local sights and surroundings that change
throughout the year.
Top 6 list of Attractions:
1) Hiking, Walking and Backpacking Trails: There
are several great walking trials just minutes from Stafford House.
Beaches, birdhouses, and lush forest walks are all right here.
Strathcona park which spans 500,000 acres is just west of
Courtenay and could be described as nothing less than a rugged
backpackers paradise.
2)Local Festivals: There's lots going
on, but if the timings right, try the The Filberg
Festival A spectacular gathering of over 130 B.C. artisans
offering their arts and crafts, in addition to the live music and
entertainment provided by local performers.
3) Mt
Washington - Vancouver Islands premiere Skiing &
Snowboarding destination in the winter. Mountain Biking, Disc Golf,
and scenic chairlift rides in the summer. A great place to visit
year round. Drive from Stafford House, it's only 35mins away.
4) Wildlife, including bird and whale watching, is fantastic. With all this
beautiful flora around, don't forget about the fauna! Bird
sanctuaries, whale watching tours, it's all at our doorstep.
5) Courtenay Museum Recently awarded the 'Best of
British Columbia' citation in the Attractions Canada guide book. A
great place to spend a day.
6) Golf: There are several golf
courses in the area, including western Canada's premiere golf
destination Crown Isle. With breathtaking views of Comox Glacier
it's hard to believe it's only a 5 minute drive from our doorstep!
